Contribution and refund policy

Fusani Applications, LLC runs Plain Votes, and contributions are paid to them. Payments are processed by Braintree, a PayPal service. Card details go straight to Braintree and never reach our server.

A contribution is a voluntary payment to help keep Plain Votes free. It doesn’t buy any goods, services or access: everything on the site is free whether or not you contribute.

Contributions don’t buy any say over what we publish or how our statistics are calculated. Every number on the site follows our published methodology.

Plain Votes isn’t a registered charity, so contributions aren’t tax-deductible.

All contributions are one-time. Your card is charged once, when you contribute, and we never charge it again.

You can ask for a full refund within 30 days of contributing, for any reason.

To ask for one, reply to your receipt, or use our contact form. Include the transaction ID from your receipt, or the date and amount if you didn’t get a receipt.

We refund the full amount to the card you paid with, and aim to do it within 5 business days of your request. Your bank may then take another 5 to 10 business days to show it on your statement.

We may still refund a contribution after 30 days, but we don’t promise to.

If you contributed the wrong amount, or were charged twice, tell us using the contact form and we’ll refund the mistaken charge in full, even after 30 days.

If you see a charge from us you don’t recognize, please contact us first. We can usually refund it faster than a dispute through your bank.

You can still dispute a charge with your card’s issuer. If you do, we’ll give them our record of the payment: the amount, the date and the transaction ID. If your bank refunds a disputed charge, we won’t refund it a second time.

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. A change never affects a contribution made before it.
